AIA Annual Award Dinner 2008

An extravaganza nite to be remembered for AIA annual dinner award 2008 on 9th Oct 2009 at Shangrila Hotel, KL.

Even though the event was held at a near closing of 2009, it was worth the wait as recipients/awardees were treated with A-star treatment. Entitled 'Bond Nite', guests were welcomed to the event floor with numerous surprises, we have emcees comparable to stars we see on TV/E-entertainment news such as host 'Ryan Seacrest' where agents walk down the aisle in RED carpet and have celebrities treatment!

On top of the star studded treatment, there was interviews conducted LIVE to cover the events filled with James Bond theme. At one point of time, three women with afro-hairdos were dancing on tables as if it was a discotheque. The pre-dinner event also provided the thrill seekers with a 'baracat' gambling chips.

In terms of the decor, this time around the ballroom was filled with rose scented environment, filled with thousands of red roses, those blooming roses were a special treat for ladies. By 7.30pm, we were allowed into the ballroom and indeed it never failed to create curousity.

By 8pm, the event started with AIA celebrities walking on the red carpet. The opening act amused the audience with a lady showering behind a curtain, our eyes can only envisioned that she was 'naked' and soon she tore the curtain and the music started thundering james bond theme.

It was a night full of 'fire' for the young and old gentlemen seated at the front row, as the pole dancers wet their appetite with all kinds of antics. at one point, the dancers were like 'orang utans' climbing the pole effortlessly, swaying their long tresses upside down serenading the young crowd.
As for our table, our team member, Janice Chern from KL Jess was elated with joy as her lucky no #1166 was the winner for RM1000 cash. She couldnt believed her eyes nor could we, when she opened a box filled with 100 ten dollar notes. Bravo Janice...! Remember to treat us yea!
To cut short, the annual dinner were indeed a night to be remembered due to the different style, decor, appealing theme that I have attended so far. I would say, this was the best in terms of preparation, decor and creative ideas in our annual dinner. Those who have not attended, be a Million Dollar Club member for free invitation. See you next year!

Mr Mehdi Fakharzadeh

Attending the NAMLIFA’s 31st Mega Convention on 11th – 13th Aug 2009 at GICC, Genting was great, yet to have a speaker/philanthropist so renown in the insurance industry, it was truly remarkable.

I was referring to the Legendary, Mr Mehdi . Based on his track records in the MDRT platform and his passion in the insurance industry, he has achieved a feat that most agents have not dreamt.

Considered a newbie in terms of ‘who-is-who’ in the insurance industry, when I first saw Mr Mehdi, he was all over by the crowd wanting to snap photos with him. I was thinking to myself, can’t these people leave him alone and let him enjoy his meal peacefully. On the AKARD award presentation night, he portrays an elderly man in his seventies…but low and behold, when he revealed his age, this energetic legend is already 88 years old and still has a penchant for wanting to take photos and obliging to all request from his fans! In my opinion, he suggests a humble kind of person, even game to dance on stage all by himself when the singer invited him to stage.

Mr Mehdi has lived his life to the fullest and yet nothing stops him from waking up at 4am every morning and work late till 9 – 10 pm. His strong-willed, agility, and kindness touch most hearts that night.

Soon, I became a fan of Mehdi and as if I am paparazzi, I was chasing for his photos. Despite requests after requests from the attendees, he never fails to stop us taking photos with him.

Ultimately his achievement is measured through his ACTIVITY management. Being an Iranian never stops him from making to the top, it was his persistent to want to achieve, the drive to succeed and the hope to help create accounts for his clients. Mr Mehdi is a man that believes EVERYTHING is POSSIBLE, as long as you believe you will achieve.

Mr Tan Hoe Huat Seminar - 3rd - 4th July 2009, Agrotek, Hulu Langat

Attending seminars are part and parcel of an insurance agent, but then on 3-4 July 2009, we attended a seminar at Agrotek, Hulu Langat by Mr Tan Hoe Huat on the topic Top Sales. Prior attending this seminar, my trainer had informed me that his teaching has an emotional topic behind it all.

As I was a bit reluctant to attend at first due to language barrier but I decided to take it as a challenge. Bear in mind, this session was conducted in Mandarin and at the end of the day being a ‘banana’ doesn’t help much and my capacity to input all those knowledge was simply disastrous.

However, the session was so impactful it opened my mind towards different directions. Mr Tan managed to create a different kind of dimension to build our skills, understanding between man and women, tonality and etc.

Above all, he manages to create so many positive ideas, positive examples, positive thinking and positive persistence to let us have a different mindset.

At the first sight of Tan, he doesn’t look like a trainer his age, however he has been in the industry for the past 12 years. In his mid forties, married with 3 school-going children, he hails from northern Penang, and has an effective voice that suits an audience. If he is in sales, i would say, he can anytime be a top producer, if he is a Casanova, any women would die in his hands/commands! He is such a smooth talker and if the bad side were to get hold of him, then he would become a conman. This is how I describe Master Tan. His voice is his gift besides the many talents God has given him.

Even though, the seminar was provided in-house, he managed to stir our emotions through S>P>C>A, I would suggest that this was his signature dish and a highlight of the two days seminar. Based on this, he asked participants to appreciate ‘3 most important people in our lives’ and emotions kinda pour out one by one. Tears of senior agents who have gone through ups and downs in lifes rolled down their cheeks as they reminiscent the many areas they have gone through. With the haunting sound in the background and partially dark atmosphere, the eeriness played its part and I couldn’t help but to pour out my emotions as well.

If you are an x-men fan, be prepared to see Gambit live, (pun intended) as he easily flew the cards from one end to another end. There are so many areas that he used to provoke our mind, challenge ourselves. In between the course, he managed to teach us pure joy by dancing. As if the hall is filled with Italian décor, we managed to waltz our way in a circle, partnering the different sexes to dance and switched partners.

Apart from that, the two jokes I remembered until now deserved a standing ovation, cheers to you! I can vividly imagined the wild side of most agents when they cross the ‘river’ by performing a stupendous dance. I realised that when agents were put to the test and being push to their limits, they will do well.

All in all, the experience that I have gathered was valuable and words cannot describe how he sustained us without feeling any tiredness. If I were to rate this training by giving a number from 1 to 10, 1 being bad to 10 being excellent. I would rate his training a 9. Apart from all the activities, the only complaint was the sore butt, having to sit on the concrete floor at times. So TWO THUMBS up for Mr Tan ! We salute you for your success to drive our agency towards greater achievement !
